DEADLY PLUMBER
I use 32g x 6s in my 12g. My son uses 28g x 6s in his 20g. I do have to store our ammo separately and we have separate bags for our kit and ammo so no chance of his ammo getting in with mine. The Essex hunters right. Find what suits you and stick with them. If the birds are coming in close you can change ammo size to a smaller size and load. Fit more open chokes etc. But that's a real faff. Just shoot em. Longbower
Thanks Guys, I use a 20g Hatstand Escort 1/2 choke. (which is a bit tighter really) I use 28g No6 SIPE Carts which cycle really well whereas the Eley Carts tend to jam alot. Never had a Sipe jam in over 500 shells since I changed over.. I use a 12 G Biakal O/U 1/2 over 3/4 , (I love it) and use Gamebore 30g No6 , as I find Eley leave mucky bores. Thanks for all you opinions. As you know its a bit tight then try a 1/4 choke and have your decoys so the back shell is 20 yards allowing the pigeon to come in behind it. All barrels are dirty once the gun has been fired so picking on Eley as a dirty round only serves as a negative point to the brand. DEADLY PLUMBER
Yep don't worry about dirty barrels that's normal with felt wads. Some carts are a bit cleaner than others. My son uses Sipe in his 20g they are mustard for him. I've got some 12g Sipe but haven't used them yet. I'm using up some old Gamebore carts at the moment. Good luck. Longbower
Looking at my post, I suppose it looks a bit harsh on the ELEY brand , I didn't intend it to look that way. On a plus note, the Eley 3" 410 magnums do a fine job in Webley & Scott,3 shot sportsman that I use for bunny bashing. So no complaints there. Does anyone in Cheshire , give Pigeon Shooting lessons? As I have come to the conclusion, its not the Gun, its not the decoys, and its not the ammunition, So that only leaves one thing, the fool pulling the trigger.
