ThePestControllers
thanks lads it was easier than i thought really i was expecting to make a right hash of it because i had no fancy turning apparatus the bolt was just stuck between 2 pieces of wood and i just turned it to where i thought it should be. and just plodded on. the tool was simple to use you just put it in the drill press set the height of the sleeve on the tool to allow just the right amount of abrasive to stick out and its just a case of moving the abrasive up and down the bolt. if anyone fancies having a go i would highly recommend it and the outcome looks great also. cheers Daz

rwade545
Hi, that looks great! Where did you get the tool to do the jewelling and how did you secure it in the wood? Maybe a picture for a bit of guidance? I enjoy working on my guns and have been toying with the idea ofhaving a go on a bolt of mine. ThePestControllers
cheers simon i bought the jeweling tool from midway uk ages ago. what i did was drill a hole down a piece of wood about 4" not very straight with the nearest drill size to match my bolt which turned out to be too small then cut the wood down the middle roughly to give me a channel to hold the bolt in between my vic. you have to shave some wood off so the bolt sticks out above the wood a bit. then clamp it in the vice and i just started making circles overlapping them down the full length of the bolt. then loosen the vice turn the bolt so the next line overlapped the first tightened it up again lined it up so the next row of circles started in between the last so all you do is roughly overlap everything 50-50 thats all i did. if i showed you my set up its not pretty not straight or even level but it worked. i am going to do my beretta semi auto bolt next you watch me **** this one up. honestly it was not hard at all its not as critical as you think mine was a real bodge and in my eyes it look very acceptable. cheers Daz
steve_b_wales
Excellent bit of work there. I wonder if some sort of pattern could be made on a bolt, by using an engraving machine?
Hamster
I wonder whether you could do mine to make sure the first one wasn't a fluke ?
ThePestControllers
Hamster if you want it doing no problem i have just done my beretta 391 bolt it takes a few hours to do its not a quick process theres hundreds of swirls but i think the end result is worth it. i will try and put a vid of my beretta bolt up. cheers Daz Video now up Edited October 22, 2013 by ThePestControllers

rwade545
Thats great, thanks for vid showing set up. Defiantly going to have a go. Will have to track down a drill press to use, time to phone my uncle! Both bolts look great!
ThePestControllers
you wont regret it. it really is easy you don't need any fancy measuring gizmos just a lot of patience i think the CZ452 bolt took me about 5-6 hours and the Beretta bolt about 2-3 hours. but bearing in mind the CZ bolt was the first time i had even used the tool it wasn't to bad at all even if you make a mistake you don't really see it as long as its not glaringly obvious. maybe i should start doing this as a way of earning cartridges i could probably charge a box of cartridges per bolt. cheers Daz
ThePestControllers
i was looking forward to jeweling peoples gun parts for them but i have looked into posting gun parts for jeweling and it is illegal to send gun parts especially bolts so unless you are willing to come here then then i am afraid you will have to do your own or get a gunsmith to do it.
