figgy
It's when you say 3 1/2 years of wear with child and you parked your car on the grass. Has your child damaged walls/skirting boards in any way with pens or toys, most kids do mine did and so did I as a child. Will full damage ain't the same as wear and tear ie paint getting discoloured and a bit grubby, by parking on the grass you damaged it and will have to make good the repair. I agree some Land Lords are a pain but so are a lot of tennants. Best advice paint the walls where needed and give it a clean, get money back move on. houlsby
I dug it all up and put fresh down yesterday. Was only £30. My lad did draw all over yeh, but we've even painted the place leaving no marks. Got colour matched paint as well so it's not as if you could tell either. Iv just spent the last 2 days fixing the place up, that's what's got my goat. If it wasn't for the carpets being a bit grubby you'd think its never been lived in! Iv had the day off work today to sort this out, so going to get in contact with the deposit scheme, a solicitor, and the agents, then get a court letter drawn up in preparation. Bloody house was immaculate, I was PROPER put out when he told me it wasn't up to scratch! Edit, have to add, he's of the 'Muslim' community as well. figgy
If its up to scratch, he's being unreasonable, but you do say carpets are grubby. A quick do with a rug doctor and your done and away with your money. Figgy
houlsby
I had the carpet cleaner on it bud. (A bisel) there's nowt we could do about them. He did admit they were 8 years old and had been 'pro cleaned' several times. It's not even every carpet, it's the front door, the stairs and the living room. The most used rooms. I now have absolutely no sympathy for you or indeed interest in your problems.

johnlewis
My son had this problem when he rented while at uni there was 3 of them in a 2 bed house so lounge used as bedroom the shower head fitting broke so I told him to super glue it together as landlord would want new electric shower fitted got away with that but he did charge £12 for new shower curtain and 1 light bulb told son accept the £4 loss each and say no more. The 2nd property he was in had him spring clean the house and make good all paint work which he did as I got him a part tin of mag paint told him how to feather it out no problem full refund some you win some you dont. As to deposit month and a half seems normal here in south.
