Graham M
http://www.thegunzone.com/rifles-kb.html That was last year and was due to too much sulphur being added to the steel to help with machining. It’s all sorted now so no need to worry. G.M.

njc110381
So much for proof testing! I thought that was the whole point of the proof system? I'm assuming a rifle gets pressure tested the same as a shotgun? Looks bloody painful either way!
Deako
I think the proof house system is just for UK guns fella...
rarms
It is obviously a problem with their rifles if they recalled them, but I love the way that the only person who wished to be named as having it happen to was 'shooting a mild homeload'!! njc110381
So they don't test them there then? Sounds a bit dodgy to me, you could end up with a faulty gun
P03
I think the proof house system is just for UK guns fella... Not sure about the States, but the most of Western Europe including Finland is subject to proof testing.
Deako
lol...with the amount of firearms in the US, they would need hundreds of proof houses!!
Spook
Oh a mild hand load you say Remind me not to try any of his special HOT rounds But seriously that looks bloody scarey! Imagine what it must have been like when it went off I wonder if they replaced the gun under warrantee.
Dunkield
The story is over 2 years old and the pictures I saw the guy had been using Ferderal Premium ammo, not home loads, so it was rifle issue not ammo. As stated above it was all sorted years ago...
chrismpullbang
as far as I know, all firearms going into the USA must be prooftested but to nowhere near the pressures required of the UK importing laws which is why guns being imported from america must be re-proofed by a UK proof house. Please dont slate me if the information is wrong but that has come from Ian Butler, the master of the birmingham proof house who is also the owner of the ground where I shoot (hereford and worcester Sg - also known as redditch gun club) so the info is unlikely to be incorrect!
