Anyone got one of the above. Feedback appreciated as I need a new knife for breasting pigeons, pheasants and the general deer preparation etc. Cheers, Rob. MC
I have got one in my fishing bag Rob, It was a ****** to sharpen on anything apart from a diamond steel. Once sharp it seemed to keep an edge for a while. Not the best but worth the fiver

30-6
Hygeine wise they are supposed to be the best, but as mentioned stainless is hard to sharpen. I use Opinel No 9, carbon blade easy to sharpen and left open all the time cause it's stuck, a bone cutting "scissors" type of thing, and a kitchen scissors (Boots chemist kitchenware own brand) which is very strong. With these 3 items, any gutting/cleaning of rabbit or bird can be done easily. EDIT - I don't shoot deer, but have read the forestry commission use the frost on deer. I have two of the blue & black handle ones, very good for the money, if you get a lansky system you will never struggle to get an edge on any knife. If you do end up losing it, won't be the end of the world ps Yes the FC do use the Frost
P03
Have a look HERE also HERE. I have two of the knives and they are great and the sharpener will do everything from axes to an Opinel.
Swanky Doodle Pigeon
The Frost Clippers with the black rubberised handle and the red bits on the end are superb. These are carbon steel and come with a scandi grind so are very easy to sharpen with a flat waterstone. The only draw back is that they only have a half tang so you should go easy if your prising. Having said that I've seen photos of someone hammering one of these into a tree and stand on the handle so they are very strong. I've gutted rabbits, squirells and pheasants with mine and it's perfect for the job. They're normally around £10-£12. P.S. Yes I confess I'm one of those bushcraft nutters too. About the cheapest I can find. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Frosts-Clipper-Bushc...7QQcmdZViewItem
pigeon_pete
Get the Carbon Steel one - i've got both and bought them from Bushcraft. The carbon one looks ****ty pretty quickly but sharpens up much better than the stainless. They are easy to wash as they are sealed plastic and 2 minutes in boiling water gets rid of all the accumulated gunk.
