spandit
It looks like a bayonet, aside from that, don't know
Westward
WW2 German K98 combat bayonet. Do you have the sheath for it? One of the old guys on the allotments collects these things and could give you an idea of value if you want.
Gunnerbob
As said, K98 German, if it has wooden grips it is pre 1939,plastic, post '39..
Imperfection
K98 bayonet. Can be worth a few bob too as German war time memorbilia tends to fetch significantly more than British. I have a fully working K98 too.

Gunnerbob
The two grooved grips secured by the bolts through the tang should be made either from wood or a plastic. Looking at your pic I would suggest yours are the plastic variety...hope this helps, For many years I collected bayonets....very addictive.. TIGHTCHOKE
It was a German K98 Bayonet but as the ring has been removed and the grooves added to the handle I would suggest it has been turned in to a trench knife after it was broken in use during the First World War. Hi Tightchoke, the op's pic is of a standard issue K98 bayonet as issued to the forces of Germany during WW11. The semi-muzzle ring is just that, it was never manufactured with a complete one. Again, grips, bog standard for an issue K98. This bayonet was issued with an all steel scabbard and suspended in a leather frog, the cavalry version had an additional hilt retaining strap. Great fun can be had confirming the manufacturer of such bayonets as through their issue history, they can be found with either a makers name on the riccasso, an "S" code or a three letter code....
