shootgun
Just put my sports car on sale and as soon as it sales, i'll get one of the above... I'm after either a 2.2 Diesel Freelander 2, or a 1.9 Diesel Grand Vitara, 07/57 plate, or newer. Anyone got any of the above, any advice, pros/cons? Which one is better off road and cheaper to run? Many thanks!
stubby
freelander or vitara, both good motors, which is why I kept my vitara as back up, after buying a freelander

filzee
We use an 03 plate vitara for all of our shooting. We have taken it into some seriously muddy places and a couple of times tried our best to get it stuck and never yet managed. The one we use is a petrol so its not cheap to run but we never go very far in it so don't really notice. If it died and we had to get another off road shooting truck we would probably just get another one. Any more questions feel free to ask. BrowningDJC
The DDIS in the suzuki is a renualt engine and have lots of problems with the particulate filter, i was told by a suzuki technician. I cant see the freelander being very reliable so i would go for a pretrol grand vitara.

phil123
I've got a freelander 2 HSE 09 plate. I've just been to iceland and had a grand vitara on hire for a week. Thought it was great and it handled the snow/ice really well. The freelander is defiantly the better machine on every aspect though. Hope this helps! Pastiebap
Having used LR products and owning a GV I would say that I spent more time at the side of the road with the bonnet up in an LR. Don't get me wrong, I love LR's but I don't love getting to know mechanics too well.
