plexer
Would anyone use an ebay style auction site to bid for sporting rights? If you think it's one way to do business and to find more shooting opportunities I presume you'd want to have legally binding paperwork covering exactly what you were paying for before you parted with your money? Ben There is already far too many rich banker types who own all the stalking...and what do they do??? They outbid everyone, buy the rights to show off to their mates, then they shoot one deer a year (if they can be @rsed with that!) and let the population get out of control! And when you approach the farmer to ask if you can help reduce his numbers of deer to a managable level he wants you be able to let you, but feels that he would be breaking his contract with the banker...who would then probably sue him! Bit of a rant I know...but we all have our pet hates!
Paul in North Lincs.
No.....................it would make it too accessible for eveyone. It it was as easy as pressing a button, and 'off shooting you go'; can you imagnie the sort of idiots that would be wondering about shooting, and giving us a bad name. For me persoally, nothing beats door knocking, and the excitement derived when you get a 'yes'........gaining permission is an art form in itself.................... Secondly.............why should shooting entiltlelment be strictly for those with more money?? its a working mans activity not just for those with bags of cash
Highlander
Oooops looks like this has taken a wrong turn into a them and us situation which (if I read the post correctly) isn't what plexer had in mind. I assume by sporting rights he means game, deer etc. I don't see a problem with an ebay auction as it's should be the same as any other type of bidding process. You'd want to know what was on offer AND have a record of the shoot, bag numbers etc etc. Also I'd want to visit the place, maybe more than once and spend some time sussing it out. If it's a formal lease situation (which it should be to avoid any problems later) then legals will be involved and then it's just like buying any other lease type situation. BUT as always caveat emptor! Having said that maybe if plexer were to post a link to said info we could see just what sort of shooting rights are on offer??? pin
Misleading subject, as I would "bid" for shooting/sporting rights as part of a syndicate, I wouldn't on ebay though.
plexer
I was just using ebay as an example of an auction site I wasn't saying specifically ebay but something setup just for auctioning sporting rights just thought that might be one way for people to be made more aware of what was out there if anything because it seems that unless you are in the know you could have some wonderful opportunity to get your own diy shoot or similar off the ground if you knew you could purchase the lease to sporting rights on some ground. There are similar sites for guns etc... just canvassing opinion. I personally would love to be able to find out what sporting rights opportunities may be close at hand but wouldn't know where to start. Mungler
Hell why not. I have bought so much **** off ebay in the past - it's Friday night, had a few beers and that giant Chuppa Chup machine seemed like a good idea at the time. Knowing my luck I would end up with sporting rights in Iraq.

Dunkield
Rough shooting days have been sold on ebay in the past, a bloke in the west country was doing them
