Bluebarrels
Steel 4's will be fine mate BB
fenboy
Depends on what gun you are going to be putting them through , if its not proofed for high performance steel then i would be looking at bismuth or ITM , if it will take high performance steel my preference would be 3s unless the birds are likely to be fairly close . Eley lightning 36g 3s are what I am favouring at the moment.

fenboy
Should have a fleur de lis mark on it somewhere if it is , do you know how old the gun is ?
Bluebarrels
Yep as above should have Fleur de Lys stamped on it,then you will know its suitable for steel BB http://www.shootingtimes.co.uk/sportinganswers/522894/Proofed_for_steel_shot.html Edited January 21, 2014 by Bluebarrels

fenboy
If they are the only marks then it is not high performance rated , buy a box of bismuth to be safe , standard steel is pretty cack and I would not recommend it .
colin lad
there is 3 small patterns bit like in the pic truflex put up but on his pic i can clearly see it's a fleur mark but can't see clearly what the marks are on mine even with my reading glasses on to be safe i will go for bismuth, may sound daft but is bismuth a particular cartridge or are there different one's colin

colin lad
Bismuth is the shot load ok thanks will go for them this is a one off shoot so only need one box glad i asked though colin
motty
If it's a 3" magnum Lanber that's fairly modern and in sound condition., I would go for the rio steels. These will be fine. Enjoy yourself!
Penelope
Colin, Eley VIP 1 1/16oz (30gm) 5's in 2 1/2" (65mm) case will do nicely, c. £25-30 a box of 25 though. Ely are the sole manufacturers of bismuth loads in the UK. there is 3 small patterns bit like in the pic truflex put up but on his pic i can clearly see it's a fleur mark but can't see clearly what the marks are on mine even with my reading glasses on to be safe i will go for bismuth, may sound daft but is bismuth a particular cartridge or are there different one's colin
casts_by_fly
As said, if it is a 3" chambered Lanber, it will be fine for steel. 3", 32g 4's will be just fine. You're choked properly. Don't bother with Bismuth if you don't have to. rick
colin lad
70mm chambers so not 3" sadly this could be a good excuse for a new gun though Colin
Fatcatsplat
Go in the gunshop and ask - I've been using Eley steels in size 4 through a BRNO side by side and having great fun with them - We are shooting around a lake, so chances of mallard, teal, widgeon etc along with pheasants and they are bringing them all down dead at 30/40 yards. fenboy
Nip back and slap him round the chops ! Of all the loaders Lyvale are regarded as producing the poorest steel loads. I must admit i have not tried any recently though so hopefully they will have improved , the last one I tried would struggle to put a hole in a paper bag
colin lad
its only a one off mate on a small pond if i get to fire a shot then i would of had a good day i can use them up after that on some pigeons and they were only £6 a box so not too bad i guess colin
fenboy
I am sure they will be ok if you keep the range sensible , hope you bag a few .
