hodge911
hi al and excuse my asking but here goes I have just bought an escort semi auto [ gen 2 ] with the 5 chokes that come with it ......having only ever had fixed choke guns o/u do I use full choke for pigeon ? what is the difference I,e improved cyl etc that the gun comes with my o/u that I use at the min I think is 1/2 & full here is the list of chokes it comes with from the hatsan site Steel shot suitable multi 5 choke system (F, IM, M, IC, CYL)
fenboy
Cylinder is no choke, Improved cylinder is a little more open than 1/4 choke, M = 1/2 choke, IM = 3/4 choke, and full is the tightest . most people that use a auto tend to stick to 1/2 choke , though my preference is 3/4 . For pigeon decoying I would recommend you use 1/4 or perhaps 1/2 , no need for full for most pigeon shooting situations. wymberley
In English: F = Full IM = Improved Modified = 3/4 M = Modified = 1/2 IC = Improved Cylinder (which is not the English IC) - 1/4 Cyl = Cylinder Try the M to start and see how you get on. wacker
If you intend on eating them then 1/2 would be fine, anything tighter will just mash up your birds.
Ears
For pigeons I use 1/2 & 3/4 though 1/4 & 1/2 should cover it.
