FOXHUNTER1
Tried a spot the other night with Ratch where the farmer let me know that he had heard a fox calling. Set the call away on my phone and within a minute or so caught a glimpse of an eye on the banking to our right but a bit obscured by the overhanging branches of a tree. The fox came flying in and I knew I had to stop it in the open bit of ground as if I let it come the shot would be lost due to some cover and a fence in front of us ...... " Oi " BANG ....................1 Dead vixen I then decided to try another farm and lamped a fox in the 1st field, I hand called this one in cautiously to about 150yds ...it stopped and Ratch made contact with a loud thump but unfortunately when we went to pick it ......no sign. A quick scan of the lamp caught its eyes in the scrub behind....... we approached it to dispatch it but unfortunately only found a blood trail .........................looked for quite some time but never found it I will need to go back in daylight and have a proper search as hate not picking shot quarry......
