Firing pin

I can not remember if the Yoeman has disc set pins.....if it does the pin is separate from the hammer and will be spring loaded to return it but sometimes after many years of use the back of the pin swells from the hammer blows. This swelling encourages the pin to be tight in it's housing and gets stuck in there. The tiny return spring is easily over come. Pin removal and a grinder fixes it.

If not disc set the pins can be removed from inside..the same issue could be the problem!

Older Yeomans certainly had disc set strikers ................ but they can be really hard to remove. Often the area around the pin gets very dirty over time and all it may need is a good clean, but you may struggle getting the disc undone. The sidelock AyAs have a vent at the side that has to be undone first (locks the disc), but I don't think the Yeoman does (I don't have my Yeoman any more to look at).

My apologies - I had not read the post properly - and thought it was a s/s Yeoman - to which the above comments apply. I'm afraid I have never owned/inspected an o/u version. I don't believe I've ever seen an o/u with disc set strikers, though they may well exist.

Early Miroku's had disc set strikers as do some O/U double rifles ,but apart from these I am hard pressed to think of another .

What usualy happens is that the front end of the striker breaks off at the root base were the larger diameter of the striker starts and gets caught in the return spring so that it dose not actually fall out and will often work for quite a time , but get it checked .
