2 car dilemma

I currently have my old faithful 3.0 Trooper and a 53 plate 320d sport touring, I really do not need two cars so am thinking of going back to one to save on insurance and running costs, also after having last year without a m'bike I am getting itchy so looking at putting my old R6 back on the road.

I havnt got a clue what to buy, keep looking at L200's and others but cant decide what to go for? It all depends in what I can sell my Trooper and BMW for, one thing I do know is, it will NOT be a LandRover.

I run an L200 as day to day running and have to say its easy to live with, being the old style I get 30mpg at best but the alternative is two vehicles and two lots of depreciation, insurance tax etc and so I put up with the economy as other running costs are cheap. I bought the current one 3.5 years ago and put on a set of grabber tyres, 50k later it still has the same set and has only had normal servicing most of which I have done as it is simple and parts are cheap from milners. I am going to change for a new shape shortly to give a little more mpg and a bit more refinement on the motorway. The only downside is it does look a little out of place in the office car park after a nights lamping

I am in the same boat and have been for a while, i have looked at all sorts of vehicles even vans, what i have now come down to is a Toyota pick up or Mitsubishi pick up, both will be around the 09 year, the Toyota is more expensive.

No your not, my budget will be about £4000 max depending on what I can get for my two cars , I doubt I will get a 09 Hilux for that :whistling:

Probably june / july time at a guess, though part of me does debate just keeping it.

The shogun sports are the same engine but you have dogs and dead things in the cab with you rather than in the back and I guess probably pay more road tax on the later ones.

X-Trail? Rav4?CR-V DO you need "proper" off road? or the crossing of a wet field rutted track from time to time.

Not proper off road but a bit more then a rutted field at times, I also like the idea of the separate cab as al4x referred to.

Have you considered a Mitsubishi Shogun Sport mate ? Mine does all I ask of it :good:

Hello Norm, I am open minded about any at the moment but I do fancy a single cab/load space truck, great for dead things, wet dogs and grand kids

I have a new l200 and my wife has an 04 l200 both double cabs, I use mine as the family car and use it when I go shooting across very muddy fields and taking out my 4 jack russels, my wife uses hers for work and also collecting animal feed for our pigs and chickens. They are very versatile trucks, easy to work on and very reliable wouldn't be without them and having the sperate truck keeps smells and mud out of the main cab
