Recommended Posts

I've got a load of #2 steel and want to make up a 36g load for 2 3\4" 12 gauge. Got some eley lightning steel hulls and cx2000 primers. Just need recipe for this if anyone can help (powder and wads). Is vectan AO best for making steel loads?

Also just got some allaint unique cheep, any views / good recipes for steel or lead..

Coockoff, something around 1250 - 1300fps.

Kent, yea I've seen the alliant steel powder, if you have any recipes for that I would be greatful. I'm at the mercy of superior knowledge on steel fowling loads for 2 3/4'' carts, so any info is greatly received.

I should try for more than that- but is your gun up to it? Will have a look later, in RSI guide

for 32g steel loads in 12gauge you can use A0 / techna-n. those powders are cheaper and there is data out there.

especially if the speeds are 1300. easily achieved.

as for the 2s, yes they will be good even at 1300fps.

i`m still lead to believe that even that will fit in a 12-70mm case..

Just looked at the vectan data, there published recipe (the one I was looking at for AO) gives 1365fps. The same load with techa-n is 1275....

if your bent on having that sort of speed i would just load a hand full up and test them on pigeons first to see what you think to them

Why do you want it at that speed?

Most of us loading steel try and load on the faster side, 1450/1500fps

And faster :good:
