Matt Gould
Is anyone finding pigeons wising up to the flapper yet ?
kitchrat
Is anyone finding pigeons wising up to the flapper yet ? The flapper doesn't seem to impress the pigeons, so it doesn't impress me much either. They are certainly magnet aware in many circumstances (but not all!!) Continental Shooter
Like rotary, they work on their day for me. sometime I don't even need too many decoy out there and pigeon land on flapper, sometimes they scare the **** out of them 100yds away.... as a rule of thumb at the third pigeon scared I take them off and try a magnet, again if it doesn't work... peace, take it off and go static or place it far away so it scares them my way
motty
Is anyone finding pigeons wising up to the flapper yet ? What exactly do you mean?
Dr D
Nope. In fact the total opposite. I think the flapper is great. I have two running on a single wire to the hide. I find a few flaps, then stop, works a treat. Too much movement can put them off sometimes, so being able to start and stop them on demand is really useful. Tim85
Had my A1 Turbo flapper out on Sat morning and they were landing right by it or on a couple of occasions about 5 meters away from the hide! I had a **** morning though really and missed a good 7 birds easy and finished with 10 picked up 2 flying on, 1 crow flying on too after being hit and a couple that i just could not find in the rape! Definetly made a difference to my sport this weekend and a flapper did when me and Steve G went out a couple of weeks back. It was only the rotory that we had to play around with to stop them from spooking!.
Hamster
I think the flapper trumps the whirly for punch per pound weight wise, in fact I'd have to be able to drive right up to the hide area to bother with whirlies whereas the flapper can be carried very easily. DEADLY PLUMBER
My turbo flapper really helped to get the birds to come into the pattern on Saturday. I didn't use the rotary. I put two floaters out about 30 yds from my pattern. On the rape. Got 26 & 4 crows. That's the first good decoying I've had for 15 months.
