Peter_HMR
.223rem is the correct term for the calibre as they where the makers of it but everyone just calls it .

deadeye ive
.223rem is the correct term for the calibre as they where the makers of it but everyone just calls it .223 Just to elaborate a bit further . Remmington designed and developed the .223 so they have the rights to have their name following on . winchester designed and developed the .243 but also the magnum version of the .223 the WSSM Although I'm not sure I think when these calibres go into mass production it's very expensive and to retrieve the design ,development and production costs they simply license it to other ammo producers (Making profit)splitting the costs
stevethevanman
Am thinking of applying for a .223 because on my lamping ground I heard at least 4 foxes, I have recently been given loads of land on which to shoot, so I think I have a fair chance of getting it. colin.y
becarefull most calibres can be ackley improved""" this changes the shape of the case shoulders to a more abroupt step and giving more room for powder so you really do need to know what you are looking for . I think you can buy factory .223ackley improved ,but most who go to that extent load thier own reloading and calibres is a mine field until you get to know them

Hunter
They are all the same callibre.. (.22br, 220swift, .222rem, .223rem) however what tends to change is the weight of the bullets used (due to different grades of rifling) and the case length.
