Well as above yesterday i did my first ever days decoying pigeons and am hoping it wont be my last as it was brilliant!

The gamekeeper gave us a ring mid week to tell us that hes got pigeons everywhere feeding on a game crop thats been cut or something, didnt really listen was just a little too excited by this point of the conversation and could we come down sunday to get rid of some and that he was going to set a load of decoys out and a hide up for us..all we had to do was turn up gun in hand and shoot them. cant ask for much more if u ask me!

anyway sunday came round (very slowly) we turned up early moring to see pigeons all over the show, got set up and wot not and began to shoot..we had a few coming into the pattern first thing and quickly snatched them up and put them into the pattern..as the day drew on the birds became very few and far between taking shelter in some of the other woods. pigeons really aint stupid after youve taken a few down. the gamekeeper decided a few times to have a run out in the other woods and game crops with the springer & shotgun to get a few up and push em towards us. we tried all sorts to get them to come in but they were all swinging away at the last minute so something must of been spooking them. im new to this i havent a clue what like. i dont think i helped twitching and boping about in the hide dying to pop up and take the next one.

anyway the day finished with 28 pigeons and a magie 5 pigeons of which we couldnt pick because of where theyd landed, some of them were quite high and landed in another piece of wood we couldnt go in.

not a massive bag but im not complaining and neither was the gamekeeper. so it was a good day all round, and also been asked to go this weekend so smiles all round ! :)
