mrmints
What are peoples thoughts on adding another bead to my O/U? When I shouldered a gun recently, (not sure of the make) it had another bead about half way down the barrel and I thought it was a great idea to help you mount and align the gun properly. Good or bad idea? The gun is a 687s and I won't be selling it.

Travlaa
My Mk60 has one. To be honest good for practicing mount, but when actually shooting I don't look at the beads at all.
pocko3000
I bought an easyhit bead (http://www.easyhit.co.uk/) to help with an eye dominance issue I have, as well as aiding with this I found that it really helped with my gun mount as if the gun is not mounted correctly you cannot see the end of the fibre optic bead. A colleague at work has a family member who is a shooting instructor and he advised the same and can be a good tool for mounting even if you don't have an eye dominance issue. The bonus with this kind of device is it sticks on the rib, no drilling required so if its no good you can take it off with no bother. atb
Dominicrobed
I fitted an easy hit worse think I ever did and have now taken it off. You should not be looking at the bead but at what you are shooting. Waist of money if you ask me

Waist of money if you ask me Hi Dominicrobed, totally agree you shouldn't be looking at the bead (should have added that in my previous post), the easy hit is just a bright red dot in my peripheral vision but actually its only my right eye seeing it, it worked for me I know its not for everyone, did you buy the easyhit to correct an eye dominance issue? welshwarrior
I've a question for all those that add easy fit or extra beads how do they help when you should be look hard at the target not the barrels and certainly not lining up beads like rifle sights? jimmyb79
If you want a temporary solution just so you can practice mounting etc, look up 5x2mm magnets on ebay. I use them for coaching when trying to get someone to look straight down the barrels and find them very useful. As ultimately you shouldn't be looking at the barrels when shooting a temporary fix might help... Edited April 2, 2014 by jimmyb79

pocko3000
I've a question for all those that add easy fit or extra beads how do they help when you should be look hard at the target not the barrels and certainly not lining up beads like rifle sights? An easy hit or extra bead allows a shooter to see if the barrels are flat and has a decent mount. If the mount is not correct surely no matter how hard you look at target you will never hit it (you could be lucky I suppose), seeing too much of the rib your aiming too high and not seeing the bead aiming too low. As above Jimmy said he uses a temp fix to train with once a shooter is comfortable with with mounting the magnets or extra bead or easy hit would no longer be required. I bought the easy hit bead to help with an eye dominance issue as could not hit anything shooting with both eyes open as my left was taking over, I had to shoot with one eye shut and that made judging distance very hard. Using the new bead has increased my hit rate considerably Im much more confident shooting with both eyes open and it also has helped with my gun mount, If I can see the little red dot in my peripheral vision I know I'm good to go. I sound like I work for easy hit but I assure you I don't at £30 a go wish I had for something so simple to make (I must stress other eye dominance products are available!). Think it would be really useful if people posting comments about something they have not found useful to expand on why and add their experiences, this way users get a valuable informed opinion that people can use, after all thats what the forums are for. tab pock Edited April 2, 2014 by pocko3000
welshwarrior
A correctly fitting gun will come to the shoulder pointing where your looking so you won't need a bead to check. We will have to agree to disagree on the easy hit cure for eye dominance IMHO there are better fixes including shot spot and closing an eye. Not seen that shot spot before so one to keep in mind
TIGHTCHOKE
The extra bead is usually for the trap disciplines that are shot with the gun already mounted!
