Hi Everyone

We are looking at buying a new caravan in the next couple of weeks so our old one is for sale. My family have owned this van for about 20 years between us as my mum and dad bought it when i was a kid, then my brother had it for a couple of years now I have had it for a year or so.

1990 Abi Award Tristar 4 berth caravan

Generally good condition for the age. When I got it off my brother I replaced lots of the interior bits so it looks a lot more modern inside these included, new seat covers, new curtains, new lino flooring and new handles on all cupboards. All things work in the van including heating and water heater. This is a big caravan but quite light at under 1200kg max so can be towed by most family sized cars on a normal car license without needing a trailer test,

The caravan is 4 berth the front seats turn into a double bed, the seat in the middle is a single bed and has a bunk bed that pulls out over the top of it. There is a curtain which can be pulled round the bunk beds which is good if you want to put the kids to bed and stay up having a couple of glasses of wine with the mrs.

It comes with massive awning which is in very good condition, leisure battery, aquaroll and chemical toilet which is only couple of years old and stabiliser bar including the bracket for the car.

Bad bits:

- On the rear right hand side it has been scrapped against something so there lower part of the panel has some long (18" ish) shallow dents and the window is scratched a bit but to be honest is to too bad.

- On the rear panel bottom panel (the one with number plate) it has been damaged in a couple of places.

- The shower tray in the toilet has been cracked and fixed with fiberglass filler and sealent, its not been done nicely but works. Also the shower itself needs taps replacing but we have never used it i only tested them for selling it.

- The microswitches in the toilet taps on the sink do not switch the pump on however there is any easy way round this which i will show you.

Sounds silly but pics of the inside dont do it justice but pics of the outside make it look bit better than the outside is.

Located in Stevenage, Viewing is welcome. Happy to deliver for £1 a mile. Looking for £900

Al4x sorry mate your wrong, you can tow it with a standard car license even if you passed after 1997 because it complies with the following with most family sized cars.

- The MAM (max weight) of the trailer is less than the unladen weight of the car

- The gross train weight so MAM of the trailer + fully laden weight of the car is under 3500kg

In fact just reading the direct gov website they have relaxed the rules even more so you do not have to comply with the first bit if you got your license from 2013 onwards. https://www.gov.uk/towing-with-car

Silly thing is you can tow this with caravan with a mondeo sized car without the test but not with a big 4x4 as this will take the train weight over 3500kg.

Good van and well worth the money if the chassis is sound-a good service history is worth its weight in gold. Micro switches are cheap as chips but new taps are only about £50 if you don't want to mess about. I have never met anyone who uses the on- board shower-most use the tray as a storage area. Insurance (not essential) is around £75 and the world is your oyster-hitch up and go-if it rains then so much the better-nothing as relaxing as sitting in a van listening to the rain beat down-reading or watching people in tents get damp and cold.

There is no way you can tow that with a car without a trailer test at 1200kgs

i too passed my test in 98 and had the new type licence and ive allways towed but i have best of both worlds

i have a mitsibishi l200 weight is 1800kg leaving me 1700kg to tow aslong as my total weight is not over 3500kg happy days.

no tow licence needed.
