krwigan
Hello all, just wondered has anyone had good bags over lettuce?
fenboy
There are a few fields of them around my way , cannot say I have ever seen any on them but the farmer does put kites out so he must think there is a chance .
matty*
On a farm i used to shoot on grew alot of lettuce, nothing really got on them while they were there but once up and just the old leafs were left they would get on there. A bit like sugar beet in a way with the left over tops.
Old farrier
Check with farmer if he wants them shot over Spent shot in the lettuce can cause a problem causing supermarket to reject them if he's supplying in a big way Just a thought All the best Of
39TDS
I think Assured Produce says you can't shoot over them. If they were my lettuce you certainly couldn't. They must be pretty small though, just planted may be different matter.

marsh man
Yes I agree with O F and a couple of the other members, I had a field of lettuces last year with a lot of pigeons going on the ones that had been harvested and when I spoke to the farmer it was , a sorry the scanner could pick up any metal and reject the load.................good job it don't happen with peas ? krwigan
Listen lads thanks for the comments but I'm not asking you can I shoot over lettuce, that's all sorted and I'm pretty sure this farmer knows his stuff ill have to watch this space an just see how many birds hit the field and if it's not many then hopefully some good shooting will be had after harvest. Thank you all
hedge hunter 1984
I do a lot of shooting over lettuce at this time of year and over summer pal and to be honest it's just like every other way of shooting pigeon (hit and miss) but biggest bag on lettuce is 58 pigeons were as my biggest ever bad is 97 which was this year roost/flight line shooting. As long as your not shooting them sat (which I never have) or close to landing there's no problem or so my farmer tells me.
