Nuicance phone calls

There is generally a two or three second delay on sales calls which is the time to hang up on them but if you fancy a laugh ask them to confirm their full name address and DOB.

every time they ask a question counter with one of your own they get really frustrated and you sometimes even get time to ask if their parents are proud of their career choice before they hang up

Further to my original post, and getting 3 calls from the 0203 number today, I have just ordered this from the manufacturer direct http://www.amazon.co.uk/CPR-Call-Blocker-V201-Capacity/dp/B00GZRHCXK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1397742069&sr=8-2&keywords=cpr+call+blocker

I spoke to their customer service department this morning and was told that I could have a 30 day money back guarantee should I not like the product. The lady spoke in length about how this will stop 99.9% of all nuisance/unwanted calls. The company are based in Swansea and the price is exactly the same as from Amazon. I'm contacting SKY to cancel my 'call blocker' subscription, which is around £4.60 pm.

Hopefully, this will be the end of these calls and I can have some peace.

I'll report on my findings soon.

UPDATE: I've just cancelled the call blocker service via SKY, which I was paying £4.00 a month for, so in 15 months, the V201 will have paid for itself. Also, whilst speaking to the SKY rep', she informed me that as I have been a SKY broadband customer for 6 years, she can offer me a 33% discount on my broadband package, so another saving. Not a lot, but 'every little helps'.

Further to my original post about nuisance phone calls, my call blocker finally arrived on Tuesday. -

http://www.amazon.co.uk/CPR-Call-Blocker-V201-Capacity/dp/B00GZRHCXK/ref=pd_sim_ce_4/280-6229323-4577328?ie=UTF8&refRID=1B40EYXHQ2R8AHJAYGAE

It's brilliant and very easy to set up and use. There's 200 'nuisance' numbers already built in, and there's room for another 1000 of your choice. I started by entering all the numbers that I had logged as 'pest' on my phone, which was very easy to do.

Yesterday, a call came in from an 0203 number and all I did was press the 'block now' button and that number cannot get through again. Whoever called can use a different 0203 number, and if they do, that one will be blocked as well, and so on.

Today, I phoned my house number via my mobile, but withheld the number. I'm pleased to say that I could'nt get through. All I did was unblock my mobile number to get back as normal. As well as nuisance call numbers, you can enter any number you like and just block it. Although it cost £59.99, in 15 months it will have paid for itself, as I was paying SKY £4.00 a month to block withheld/ex directory numbers. SKY could not stop overseas calls coming through, but this little device does.

I would highly recommend it to anyone who is having 'sales calls' or wants to stop any coming through in the future.

Steve.

Funny reading this, as I have just had a call from an Asian guy, called "Robert" ...... who said that " my computer is running slow "... I interrupted him, saying I am not interested. He said "Your comp is running slow " ... again I said I am not interested ...... so he then said " LISTEN to me. "

With that I told him where to go and slammed the phone down. Ignorant or what ?

If ever I want something doing, be it new windows, central heating, computer repairs, anything ..... then I will call in someone and would never give work to any cold caller.

In the past, I found that if I gave a bit of abuse or shout at the caller, I would get more calls from the same company (usually in India)

Now, I can actually take a call (if it's not logged/blocked) and say some choice words, usually ending in 'off' then just press the 'block now' button, knowing that the number is then permanently blocked. As mentioned, other numbers can be used, and it's just a case of blocking each and every one. Another good idea with this call blocker, is that if a call comes through that's not blocked, and I'm not near the base unit, all I have to do is press #2 on my cordless phone and it's instantly blocked.

I'm actually looking forward to receiving telesales calls now so I can block them!

  • 1 month later...

Further to my last post in April, the number of 'nuisance' or 'rep' calls have dramatically reduced. I still get the odd one ringing, but as soon as I see the number, I just press the 'block now' button.

I had a call yesterday from a sales rep' in Birmingham. It came through because it was'nt a blocked number. As soon as I answered the phone, and realised that it was a rep' calling, I hung up and just blocked the number.

This device is absolutely brilliant and I highly recommend it.

I have had a few on my mobile but i just save the phone number and then set a rule that the number goes straight to my voicemail. not had a single message left. strange that.

Cant remember the last time i had one on the house phone, TPS and hidden number via work soon sorts that out. only emergence services have the number logged.

If you dont what the calls then dont give your number out, if a shop asks for it then give them your mobile number. tell them you dont have landline. same goes for email address. i very very rarely get junk mail, if i need to give on out i use one of the spam addresses i have made.

the way i see it is, trust no one..lol.

I have a spare email address that I give out if need be, and this is where all the junk is sent. Same with my landline number. I'm ex directory, so only the chosen few get that. Anyone else, especially when completing forms etc get a false one.

On my mobile, I tried adding a nuisance number to my contact list and then have it sent directly to voicemail, but the number still rings.
