Peskyfoxs
Thinking about going to either of the above grounds on saturday, only shot clays a couple of times and never on my own ... any suggestion as to which will be easier to find my way round and have traps that can be operated by one person easily? Del T
You'll be ok at both grounds on your own. Both great grounds, my favourite shooting grounds are kelbrook followed by Coniston.
Will Poon
Both very good grounds, Coniston has quite a number of training stands 28p per clay for non members.
Peskyfoxs
Thanks, I might just decide on the day then .. which is usually quieter?
Will Poon
I'm a member at Coniston but i don't shoot there on a weekends, but I've been told it can get very busy, I'm guessing Kelbrook will be the same .
Peskyfoxs
and a bank holiday weekend will no doubt make it worse
Will Poon
I'm usually there every Tuesday, if you can I'll shoot with you if you'd like

kent
Kelbrook is perhaps the better one regards the informal attitude and coffee in the pot. I find Coniston pretty much come, pay, shoot,go(perhaps different with company or once you know everyone). Proper food is available at Coniston also. Never been to either at a weekend
Westley
Coniston Hall is listed as only open until 1300hrs on a weekend, it is a superb ground if a little expensive. Kelbrook is not as easy to find, but is cheaper to shoot as long as you can put up with sorting out which clay is which, at the bottom end of the wood, but they are open all day. Both grounds can be shot by someone on their own. Have a look at the Kelbrook website, they do have some reasonable offers on cartridges, so you could make the trip worthwhile. BE WARNED Kelbrook has a gunshop on site so leave the credit card at home !

Westley
Just do the same as I do, shoot whatever damned clay is in the air at any given moment ! With regards to cost 'per clay' I have never bothered to work that one out, but on my last visit I paid £26/100. I am unable to cost per clay, calculator battery is flat ! chady
26p per clay plus say approx 17p per cart So approx = 43p per clay.. Westley
Yes, but it does make you shoot a bit quicker.
Westley
26p per clay plus say approx 17p per cart So approx = 43p per clay.. Ah yes, but that does not take into account the number of clays that actually belonged to someone else. So, it is possible to shoot a 75 birder but only clock up 50 clays. That should greatly reduce the cost of 43p per clay. Over to you "chady"
BlaserF3
Just do the same as I do, shoot whatever damned clay is in the air at any given moment ! The last time I was at Kelbrook there was some ***** shooting my clays, I called him a name which rhymes with banker.....not really funny at 26 pence per clay. matone
Don`t know why they don`t use more of their land at Kelbrook,it`s fine if it`s not busy, but must be a problem if all the stands are in use.
