Hi all, i have an issue with my ruger, its a stainless barrel and action with titaniam firing pin, new trigger, plastic rear buffer, titaniam ejector.

The problems are some times i get a light strike around 1 out of 10-15 shots, also i find it occasionaly jams, 1 out of 20 shots where the ammo misses the breach and goes upwards from the mag and jams against the top of the action.

Anyone got any ideas etc or how to change it?

Cheers

Tom

The light strike is usually either a poor hammer spring or firing pin, what make parts have you put in it?

I've never come across the feed issue myself, I'd recommend getting on the rimfire central forum in the US, those guys know everything about the 10/22.

I've had the same problem with mine recently. Light strikes on lapua subs. I have tried bevelling the striker so that it comes to a slightly "sharper" edge, but they are still happening occasionally. I have an off the shelf power custom (as I recall) trigger kit, which replaces the hammer spring. I think its time to shim that spring or get a new one. As for the feed stoppages, I don't know. I find that 90% of stoppages are down to grit in the magazines, so am always taking them apart and cleaning. I run the rifle using a dry lube.

Its a new titaniam firing pin, power custom i think, iv used eley, winchester and cci, happens less with cci but still happens, ok i shall stip my mags and find out if theres any major issues, they are fairly new so should be ok but will check, i just brought a new trigger and a few parts didnt buy a whole ready made trigger kit

Dont sharpen the pin but do remove a FRACTION off what limits the pins travel.

If you dry fire make sure you have not burred the breech face. Do not dry fire a rim fire.

Titanium is light. A stronger hammer spring may be needed.

Sometimes a light bolt/ recoil spring can cause issues by alowing the bolt to jack of the cartridge when the pin strikes.

Have all these parts just been put together and it found as a whole to be malfunctioning? or is this a gradual change?. If the former its a process of replacing one part at a time back to the std one till you find the issue. Conspiring tolerances might even be the issue when your working with after market parts

I've used all Kidd parts in mine, I did a lot of internet research before I bought and unfortunately the Power Custom stuff gets a lot of negative reviews online from he US where the market is huge.

If it were my gun, I'd be changing out any of the power custom parts for Kidd or Volquartsen.

The 10/22 doesn't need much maintenance, just a squirt of dry lube every now and again, although, as mentioned before, the mag can suffer from from grit.
