Hopper Bopper
I have a S410 .177 carbine. Is the barrel floating or is it supported by the 'ring' around it and the cylinder? i want to try and shroud the barrel but don't want to change the dynamics of the barrel set up if I can help it. Thanks in advance. HB

hyflier
It's supported by the ring, I don't understand the need to shroud the barrel - it's meant to look like that and what do you hope to achieve by shrouding the barrel anyway? it's an air rifle, i doubt you will change the dynamics with this venture, but good luck and i hope it brings you loads of success. FalconFN
Are you hoping to replace the barrel support or do away with one all together? The added weight may make the barrel sag or become vulnerable to knocks without one but I'm sure someone must have tried before. Good luck. Hopper Bopper
My idea is to make a carbon fibre shroud and maybe some sort of light wait mod and make a new support ring. i use an aa mod and i am not happy with it being so loud. it is just an experiment at the end of the day and I realise it may not work at all. cheers HB Edited June 28, 2014 by Hopper Bopper

peek-at
Why not try another mod?
Hopper Bopper
Though about changing the mod but don't want to run the risk of spending dollar and still not getting anywhere. It could turn out to be expensive. HB
FalconFN
An HW moderator will be as quiet as you will get and cheaper than making a shroud, which aren't known for good silencing.
Longbower
Both my Air arms , have 'barrel adaptors' , and Swift silencers, total cost, £60 each. and you get 'whisper' quiet. (I Promise). I shoot bunnies at Equestrian Centre's, and I have to be very careful not to spook the horses.
lordripon
Have a look at the s510 it has a vented shrouded barrel as standard ! you could put a s510 front barrel support on a s410 and use it to support a custom shroud . I think the 410-510 are classed as semi floating barrels as the front support has no ridged way of fixing the barrel but uses a quite loose rubber o ring to gently support it. Big Gnat
Go check out the vids on u tube about silencers. There's one showibg how to make a shrouded barrel from a carbon fishing pole.
