arjimlad
I have a used SBS Gunmark Merlin ejector made by Bernadelli. It is 40 years old and worth at best £325 or so. When I renew home insurance later this month, they will cover items new for old, but I have to give a value for anything worth more than £1500. Now I'm pretty sure this gun would not have cost £1500 new in 1974, but to buy an equivalent new gun today I get the feeling I'd be looking at a couple of thousand! I am having trouble thinking of a modern Italian SBS I might compare it to..apart from the obvious Beretta which it never was (although I like to feel it was better made than an AYA no4).. Any ideas on what's out there ? I can't see Fausti SBS for sale in the UK any more..
deershooter
You can not work like this you can only value like for like that's like saying my ford Anglia is the same as a focus Deershooter
Cosmicblue
Ensure it for whatever you feel it would cost to replace, insurers don't do pro-rata payouts so if you want it replace you need to value it at the equivalent list. Perazzi do a SBS.......the DC12....
aris
Take it to an RFD and get a written valuation.
HDAV
Basically unless you pay additional premium the value will be capped at £1500 most likely, doesnt mean you have to buy a new for old just that the new equivalent is more than £1500 so you would be happy with £1500 as a settlement and then you could buy a nice used gun. Big Mat
The policy is new for old.. You say in your first post you have to give a value for anything worth more than £1500. Your gun is not worth more than £1500 so you dont have to give a value
arjimlad
A price for the item new, then. That's what I have to give.
