Finally finish fully floating the barrel with a dremel kit, fixed the action screws and all scope screws with lock tight thread sealant, added a butt pad, added butler creek scope covers..

And here is the result, very eager to get out and try it. Its cost me a a fair bit of savings, time, and effort, but its all worth it. Looking forward to long range crows, rabbit, and lamping fox.

Sorry about the bolt closed in a couple of pics  my bad!

Here it is, complete and ready to go. Tikka T3 .222 Harris Bipod, Swarovski 6X42, T8 moderator

 That's one hell of a sweet looking rifle Hunter

Have you tried her out yet with the new mod? Going to get one myself this year hopefully. Did you extend the butt?

One more question, do you take the mod off for hunting trips? Just asking as the rifle & mod look longer to me than the case in that photo.

You're going to have an awful lot of fun with that set up

i have wonderd about mine the barrel only floats to half way and you have taken yours out with dremel who said to do this i thought that this was how they are because plastic does not move and it shoots good . any info or help would be good.

Trev, Im not sure what Type of plastick the stock is made of. But some plastics expand and retract with tempreture Quite allot mate. If the plastick is Glass filled then it will be stable due to the glass fibres giving the moulding more strength and rigidity.

Very nice looking rifle you have got there Hunter. :good:

Hope it work's well.

There are different forms of loctite on the market and I hope you haven't used the type I'm familiar with in Engineering as the only way to break the bonding is to apply heat should you ever decide to want to undo the screws at a later date . :good::good:

looks a nice set up ......The .222 bullet looks well seated in to the brass casing ........Is that the norm ?

Hi chaps!

I must first say thanks for all the replies!

I had to write a list of all the qeustions asked so I dont miss anything out B)

The bullet holder comes from 'that site' and cost £8 posted :good: I had to cut a small hole away for where the sling fits, and I was worried about it fraying, but due to the hight quality it will not fray even under tension :good: its an 'Allen Rifle Cartridge Holder', please PM me if you need help finding one.

It holds 9 rounds, the main reason I bought it was to prevent the cold synthetic glass fibre stock from contact with my cheek on a cold morning. Its also a great place to put the empty rounds, so they dont rattle in your pocket while stalking. Fire a shot, cycle the bolt and put the casing in one of the 9 loops. What looks like a comb raiser is actually the T3 varmint stock showing through.

Yes the stock is said to be 'cheap' but I have still seen this gun put rounds witihin a 5 pence peice at 100 meters :P so Im not going to complain. Despite what people say about it, it really is comfy.

The butt pad is sticky rubber and sits in your shoulder well, though it is not an extension.

As for the guncase, this gun fits EXACTLY into it, (though a little tight) and I dont have to remove the moderator during transport. But this is not such a big deal if you have to, as cleaning will require removal, at no zero loss.

The threads where sealed with propper lock tight, however I made sure not to over do it so they can be removed. If they dont budge il use a tiny bit of heat from my butane pen. I dont think it will be a problem though, as they are also there to stay a while. I dont intend to faff around with the mounts and scope, its a fixed mag Swaro, so its bolted down tight to stay  one less thing to worry and think about while shooting..

As for the bulltet in the stock pad, they are Federal Premium V-shock 40g, I try to stick with molly coated ammunition, but for wearing in a new barrel its best to stick with plain copper jacketed bullets, before using molly coated.

I have a date to try this kit out on the 18th-19th, so I really hope its going to work well, its been many many months since I last fired this rifle :P

Cheers! :P
