hedd-wyn
Well, managed to get out for an hour this evening for a few rabbits. I went to a small permission that i rarely visit because of its size but always handy to have and makes a nice change to the bigger permissions It was a stunning evening and there was quite a bit of wind, so perfect conditions for the ol' 410 I can't seem to leave this 'little gun' in the cabinet these days! It's the dog's ********
hoggysreels
Well done mate .. wish l had made the effort this evening, though, there isn't Rabbit in number on my permission. Where you using 6's 2.5" fibres ? ... cheers
hedd-wyn
Well done mate .. wish l had made the effort this evening, though, there isn't Rabbit in number on my permission. Where you using 6's 2.5" fibres ? ... cheers It took me a bit of persuading to be honest, football on the box every night makes one lazy. But this lovely weather won't last long so I felt the need to make the most of it. Yes, I used the Eley Fourlong no6 12.5g Fiber wad. Being a 2 1/2 inch chambered gun the selection of cartridges is quite slim but to be honest I find these cartridges excellent and probably wouldn't use anything less. Perfect for rabbits. hoggysreels
I'd say your .410 looks a bit tidier than mine, the barrel on mine does look as good as your "cosmetically" ... would you know if from new they came painted or blued? ... mine need refreshing, though for what they cost and are worth, l cant see warranting paying out to have barrel reblued .. hedd-wyn
Mine is blued, I saw one online and had it sent to Gwynedd Firearms. When it arrived it was without doubt out of proof. So they contacted the dealer and he sent me this one, in Very Good condition for the same price £50! I read somewhere that gunsmiths love bluing them because of the quality of the steel. If you can find someone to blue it for around £50 quid I would personally get it done. These guns have gone up in price recently. I did give the stock one coat of oil just to make it shine a little brighter though. Edited June 19, 2014 by hedd-wyn

I really look after mine and give it a strip down and clean after every outing. Probably due to sentimental value really. There's a really old picture of my old man shooting one as a kid so he was made up when I showed him what I'd bought. Let us know how you get on, always interested in bringing old guns back to life. Rimfireboy
Good shooting fella. I've been trying out some #9 shot in 2:1/5 inch. Works well on squirrels.
