Hunting marathon

Had a bit of a marathon today, I met up with Peltman at 7am & we set off to ferret a long hedgeline locally as we drove round the corner we saw 6 good sized bunnys make there way back to the buries, so we knew they were home

There must be well over 150 holes along this ditch so Peltman nipped home & got his 100 yard longnet, on unraveling, it resembled 100 yards of tangled net so we spent the next 45 mins sorting it out :P Then just as we were about to enter the ferts a guy from the nearby cottages that back on to the sportsground appeared moaning that we were upsetting his daughter :P I think she must have been confused why 2 blokes were in a field untangling a net :D He then went off to complain to the groundsman :)

The groundsman turned up, by which time 3 ferrets had been entered :) He was fine with us being there but to keep the peace I said I'd move along the hedgeline. We ended up with 5 healthy rabbits & 1 baby that the dog inadvertanly got :good:

Pic showing 4 as Peltys mate turned up & nabbed one.

Forgot to mention Pin showed up 2 hours late, something about paying his missus some attention.

I then had to pack up at 11 & get over to Hatfield where I was meeting a lad from the shoot I beat on to shoot pigeon over a large couple of fields of rape, I set up in 1 field & he set up on the other side of the road in pre positioned pallet hides. As I was setting up there were shots coming from woods where we didnt have permission & this lifted about 800 birds :) I hastily got set up with a rotary 2 floaters & about 20 shell deeks & positioned myself in the hide, only to realise that I,d put the rotary at the back of the pattern :lol::lol: Anyway this was soon corrected, the sport was very intermitant with about 10 birds shot in 3 hours :P but the highlight was the last half hour when the birds were screaming into the deeks I shot 2 left & rights and my first ever trio with the semi auto :)

I packed up at 4pm with 26 birds shot for exactly 50 carts one of my best ratios :good: Unfortunatly 2 birds were lost in the thick rape, as I left the dog in the landy nursing a sprained paw :/

Hastily taken pic of the hide & birds

What was your success rate

Good Morning SS, Catchapelt and I went Stalking after dinner.

He took out this Buck just before it got dark, we were just heading back to the Car when he started to Bark so we homed in on him. Found him standing next to a Doe, we could have taken her out as well but as she was in season (hence the buck being with her) means she could have been in milk with a fawn laying up somewhere :)
