Willow32
What can I add to my lead to harden it up ?..... Regards Willow32
aris
Antinomy is the usual ingredient. I believe home loaders recycle linotype which is a lead/antinomy alloy to get the hardness up. http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/answers/what-is-the-antimony-of-lead-shot-18259

aris
It comes up for sale here from time to time. There was a thread about buying raw pure antimony too if you do a search.
figgy
If you can't get hold of it, might be worth buying reclaimed shot and melting into your pure lead to add some hardness. Figgy

Figgy No it wouldn't I just melted down some reclaim and it was rubbish. I had to add a load of lino to make it drip properly and produce good shot. Never again. super sharp shooter
The problem is I cant get hold of linotype.. Regard Willow32 Linotype is the stuff you need to add but it's getting harder to get hold of. You can get it from the USA but that costs. I have a spare 10kg if you can collect it.This amount will harden 30kg of lead that's about 960 32g cartridges Edited July 5, 2014 by super sharp shooter
Paddy Galore!
the lead from batteries is quite hard and brittle, we used to recycle these when I worked at a foundry.
