theshootist
Can I ask if anyone has experience with the above? I have just picked up a leather single gun case. Still has the handle and straps in place and seems to be of high quality. All the inernal baize and compartments have gone however, (hence my bargain) and I will need to replace this. My intention will be to find some thin strips of wood (I don't know what) to form the compartments and to glue them in place. Not sure whether these bits should be tacced in place too. Then I would cover the inside with a roll of sticky back baize that appears to be available on £bay.A repro trade label and hey presto, I will have a smart case for my gun (which will very rarely sit in it!). Any pointers or corrections on my plan gratefully received.
JJsDad
Have a look at Peter Dyson`s site on the web. They supply the pre-shaped wood and various other bits for refurbishing cases.

rwade545
i've just redone a wooden case. ebay for 3mm green felt, then b&q for some 4mm ply strips, total cost bout £6. glued felt to case, then cut strips of ply to fit, covered in felt and glued them in place. Made them a tight fit so them stay in place with out glue. Also ordered a little leather and brass buckle strap that will be attacked to hold the stock. theshootist
Good job and nice gun. So you didn't use the sticky back felt? What sort of glue did you use to fix it? Thanks
rwade545
i didn't know about the sticky sided felt! lol. I just used some cheap general purpose glue from the pound shop, 2 tubes, squeeze around the sides and then zig zag around the rest and a quick wipe with a finger to spread it out. not too messy. I also used part of a yoga mat for a bit of thin high density foam padding, they are a couple of quid in tesco or the likes. And a razor blade is great for cutting the felt along a straight edge or tripping it once stuck in the box.
saddler
I've done a few of them over the years, mainly repairing attaching points for handles, making new straps, trying to source new locks etc. The wooden dividers should be tapered wood strips, not flat strips. Have fun
Gunman
Pine board for dividers cut to shape fitted then baize covered before assembly . Copydex is good for gluing the baize to the wood , but PVA for assembeling then all tacked into place with panel pins . Gun should fit snuggly so it does not have room to move about and as far as possible all dividers should have support or wedging from other dividers or blocks to add strength .
