Paddy Galore!
You can rub down and polish that's good news, wasn't sure about 2pack paint, it's funny old stuff but harder wearing than the tractor paint my old man gets. Mabery 3
Good bit of elbow grease, very fine wet and dry, and a good rubbing block with a lot of soapy water, then compound and finally a polish up with t cut Hope this helps lastly, would you guys in the know recommend thinning it down much in this heat? if so then by how much? That is a hard one yes thin down, but you need to play with the gun and pressures to get it right

crossy 666
I thin it down 10% in this heat but if it is cheap 2k it could be thin out of the tin so you would need to look first. If you get a run let it go hard propley and if it is big you can cut the top of with a new razor blade to let it dry all the way then wet flat it with 2000 wet/dry. Mabery 3
Make sure you have a good mask 2k stays in the system you dont s**** it out!!! Spent many a day rubbing down primer waiting for the boss to put the top coat on, happy days with no finger tips
andypaint
Depending on the colour depends how much you can rub it down. You don't really need to lacquer 2k. Put around 30% thinners in and don't forget the harder. Don't use to fast a harder at this time of year or it won't flow smooth.
Budice
Does T-Cut affect 2pack like it used to? I remember telling a guy not to do anything to his newly painted bootlid and he brough it back a month or so later complaining it had gone milky, he'd only put T-Cut on it for somereason known only to him. andypaint
If 2k is polished or waxed within a month of painting it can trap the solvents from the curing process and make it milky. Also a sudden drop in temperature with damp can cause bloom if paint hasn't dried properly.
Budice
Thought so Andy. Whats happening with waterbased? they sorted a decent lacquer yet?
andypaint
Not really only two waterbased lacquers on market and both take hours to cure. So we all have to use ultra high solid lacquer so only one coat needed. But it's very hard not to get it orange peely. Can still get decent old lacquers easily though but they had to put things like scratch resistant on the tin to make them a specialist product to get around the solvent laws. Paddy Galore!
Gents, thanks for your help and advice, it's very gratefully received. I know a little bit about it but sometimes a little knowledge is as bad as none, I was warned about the fumes from 2k so have plenty of masks, I did a couple of panels on my tranny with 2k a few years back and the finish was perfect, no need for any rubbing or polishing, but the paint was expensive. i'm tempted to spend that little bit more and get some decent quality paint again rather than the agricultural stuff I've budgeted for, unfortunately Morelli's has since gone the way of the Dodo so that doesn't leave me with a lot of choice. andypaint
Don't worry to much 2k is all very similar in quality. It's the application that matters use around 20 to 30% thinners and a medium hardener and 20 mins between coats Don't worry to much 2k is all very similar in quality. If you can get your colour in ready mix it will work out quite cheap, I can buy enough paint thinners and hardener to do a caddy sized van for around £50-£60 and that's Mipa stuff so pretty decent quality.
