Calling them close

Was out the other night with Grasshopper on a couple of my permissions in search of the gingers as per usual..

We arrived at the 1st farm just as it was getting dark and parked up next to a favourite field which didn't disappoint as the first flick of the lIghtforce revealed a fox some 200 yards away.

I immediately started calling using my hand and had this fox coming in straight away but in a bit of a loop rather than straight in , anyway I stopped it at around 40 yards and Jeff had No 1 in the bag.

We then tried another part of the farm where I knew there was another litter but it was a no show on this stand

So we went back to the original field and started calling again ...nothing showed so I played Cottontail distress off my phone and immediately had another fox screaming in to around 30 yds  No 2 in the bag...

Tried another rushy field with limited visibility which pulled in another but it disappeared sharpish ...presumably the vixen as we heard her shouting shortly afterwards.

We went back to the original field again . put out Foxpro and played cub distress call .. which brought a response from the vixen but she kept a safe distance and kept calling. 2 foxes did appear in the field but just wouldn't settle at all for a shot and eventually all 3 made a retreat ... :sad1:

On the way home I decided to look in on another farm which paid off as I called another fox in to around 30 yards using my lip squeaking .............................

He will kill you for that first pic , double chin creeping in :whistling:

Well done a great night and good to see him christen it on a fox :good:

Relaxed muscle Rob..relaxed muscle

That 1st Fox actually came to within 30yds but as it had circled i was aware of Mark so hesitated,it moved out to 40yds and gave me a straight forward shot...cracking call. :good:

2nd Fox appeared at about 180 coming under the fence and by the time i'd mounted the rifle onto the sticks and picked it up it was only 50yds away it came that fast :w00t:

3rd Fox was again 1st flick of the lamp :)

Nice to finally get some with the new .243 and still some about as we saw another on the 2nd farm but wind was wrong and it wouldn't stand
