merseapaul
Hi, anyone know exactly what canes geoff garrod from the shooting show uses and where to get them from?. I have some simular that I cut from a long off cut I found years ago and they work well and much easier to carry than cradles but are getting a bit worse for wear!. The ones he uses look all the same and mass produced for something?, think I read somewhere that may be for crop spray markers?.

Tim Kelly
There are lots of different diameter fibreglass rods for sale on eBay. Get what you want and cut to length.
fenboy
I have been using them for more years than i can remember , as you say farmers use them for markers for various reasons , try a local agricultural supplies place or just ask one of your farmers. deny essex
B&Q sell fibreglass composite rods in a few different thickness's in their metal rack , just a tip as mentioned never rub the rods down and run your hands over them less you want a hand full of fine splinters. At £5+ a meter they can keep them , thanks for tip though. I think agricultural markers are way to go...... just got to find supplier. My farmers use twigs/ branches as markers. missmoreandmaster
Hi guys I got a pack of electrician's puller rods there is about 10 x 1M in each tube with brass connectots at each end. They have got them in Aldi (I think they cost about £7.50, got mine when they where reduced) at the moment can be used for all sorts of applications, only problem is they are blue so have black and green perm. marker in bag as well Martin
ShropshireSam
Anyone doing crop field trials uses 100s of these "white canes" to mark out plots. They are 1 or 1.5 m long so Geoff must have cut down to suit. But important to treat with care as when they are bent too far they splinter and the fine glass fibres easily stick in your skin. I have a few and have never tried them...having seen a video of Geoff 's I will give them ago...but look like they need a bit of breeze to work well. Very well finished as designed to be push/pulled by hand so no splinters either. Thanks for the tip.
