discobob
yeah my wife doesn't like guns either and didn't want live kills either,no carts in the house!!! I have 3 guns 5000 thousand carts in the house and shot 40 pigeons yeasterday i love the compromise in marrage Sounds like you had the best of the compromise - but I do feel the same as her about live kills - just the way people are made!! get a new wife... Had crossed my mind - but have you heard the saying Marriage is grand - divorce is a hundred grand ..... Can have what you want then! ......as long as that includes a bedsit (if you are lucky).... OR JUST GET A HOOKER,THEN YOU CAN HAVE WHAT YOU WANT,WHEN YOU WANT ,opps shouting again .....Would have been cheaper overall in the long run....and I would be in a Porches now !!! kingo15
I feel your pain. I was told no guns no dog no shooting by my wife. Anyway I now have a working cocker 2 guns and boxes of carts in the house. Shooting twice plus a week. I got a pair of those glasses from ebay used but in very gpod condition paid about £12 inc delivery. I personally couldn't get on with them for shooting. Assured
My wife wasn't happy at all when I came home from work with my first gun,I now have 2 guns and1000 cartridges. She is still not happy but accepts it.
figgy
Your wife will come around to your shooting, as soon as she realises its nothing to be worried about, the carts won't go bang on there own and the gun is just wood and metal. You have knives in the kitchen and lots of chemicals that can go bang in the house, but she is used to them. She will soon get used to your gear. mick miller
If it's just clays you're shooting you'll want one of those little leather fobs that go on your shoelaces and protect your shoes from dirty gun barrels, maybe a golfing trolley to carry your gun between stands, a handy small towel that can clip onto your vest to make sure your hands are really dry between shots. As for glasses, it's pretty much essential to spend a small fortune on a pair of hi-def specs, these alone can transform an average club shot into George Digweed in an afternoon. You'll need a good choke key too to speed up those frantic choke changes between stands. These are just my observations from various clay grounds and not necessarily what I would myself choose. Of course, you could opt to ignore any of this advice, save your money and still thoroughly enjoy your new past time just as much. In other words, don't be tempted to waste good money on stuff you don't need. Any half decent rod, jag, brush and a can of Legia spray will cover most of the cleaning; a bore snake will do most of it for you with less effort. You need to seriously work on the other half regarding the cartridges though, it's the worst way to buy them buying them a box at a time. Good luck, have fun, book some lessons. discobob
So you're vegetarian? Far from it, just an animal lover (and not in that way!!!) and love birds (feathered and non-feathered )

Don't worry - I am not pretentious - just practical - and done13 years forces so I have done the real thing in real situations!! Up to 84mm - http://www.paradata.org.uk/content/carl-gustav-anti-tank-weapon I have already had lessons with Brian (Beretta on here) who I found through these forums and will be having a few more from him. Indeed I phoned him after finding the gun I am getting to ask his advice before putting the deposit down. I had tried to book him for one of the two previous weekends but he was booked up. I had great pleasure when my eldest lad was MSA karting (and you should see the money that splashed about in that) turning up with a set up that cost £750 inc a trailer for him to whip other kids whose parents had spent thousands on engines and bought motor homes specifically for going to the track - these were cadets ages 8-11!!! Money does not make up for lack of skills and boy could my lad drive. Thanks for the recommendations on kit Cheers Steve

I just want to get in some stuff that I might need. The only problem with Faux is that they don't really have a shop and what they do have is expensive from what I have seen I suppose I stoked it with using bling - should have put must haves and nice to haves Cheers Steve
figgy
You got a nice long list now Just enjoy your gun, you can get away with using a good product called Cleanzoil, it will clean protect and lube. A bit of car grease on choke tubes and trunnions, job jobbed. I have a few rods and jags brushes etc. Main one I use is called a Napier mega mop, long fully furry cleaning rod but with a normal threaded end so you can add a bronze brush or Turks head, jag or whatever. Figgy Bought the mega mop, napier jag and ultra lean patches. I also bought a waxed baseball cap along with a musto waterproof jacket for a bargain £45 new - half the price of the same jacket from other places. I also picked up a pair of snap caps. I might also get what I consider to be an "original" shooting jacket - gore tex dpm's - for the price they are available for compared with shooting specialist retailers - they just don't compare. Still got glasses to get, and although there are recs on this thread I have seen the Top Gun Elite glasses which I like the thought of as I won't have to mess about changing lenses around! And of course, Oil and Grease Mr Miller - have you got a link for those leather fobs - thinking on it I don't want my Chelsea boots getting dirty

The toe protector looks great with my bestest bright wight trainers and me little tight vest to show off me tan and spaghetti arms. If you use one great if you don't, black circles on boots/shoes. I don't and have a tendency to put the broken gun on my shoulder, sure its got teeth marks in the stock. Figgy
mick miller
You're missing out there Figgy, as carrying the broken gun on your shoulder will make you look well kewl and let everyone know that you've been doing this clay lark for, like, ever. It's also a real bonus when you spin around to look behind you and clout the divvy standing next to you, drying his hands on his special hanging towel after a sweaty round of dtl, probably knocking his priceless hi-def's into a puddle or summat. Grandalf
Cartridges, a cleaning kit, an oily rag and enjoy yourself. Spend the money you have not wasted on taking The Memsahib out to a good restaurant that sells superb game dishes. She'll come round.
