A few of you may know, that after my cocker dying in jan, we have been patiently waiting for our puppy to be ready for collection. Today, was that day and below is a few pics of Lucy in the garden (she is about 7.5 weeks old) She has already tryed picking up a ball in her mouth, so hoping plenty of potential with some good training.

A few photos below:

however david bailey you are not. get practising and show us more pics :good:

Thanks darebare, the prob is she wont stay bloody still! Today, being her 2nd day home she has come alive! Still trying to toilet train her and now attempting to train her to using a clicker. First time i have had puppy training to do as my other dog was brought when i was 5ish. The training is hard work but fun, as for clickers does anyone else use them? For treats, the breeder advised us to use chopped up cheese squares, what does everyone else use?

I'd slow it down a bit there, at 7.5 weeks old, and her second day in a new home the only thing you should be doing is playing, bonding and letting her get used to her new surroundings. Give her plenty of time to settle in, then in a few weeks start some structured training.

Remember she's still a very very young baby. Personally I'd start basic 'sit' 'stay' 'come' at around 12/13 weeks. Then only 15-20 minute sessions.

Never used a clicker myself, can't see it being much use when the little bleeder is tearing across a boggy field!!! :good:

For treats, my latest one just can't get enough of liver.

I have not started any puppy training just using the clicker when toilet training her.

Have you taken the time to read up on clicker training, and to "LOAD" the clicker?

yes it you mean getting her to realise that the click means treat. I spent a hour or so yesterday and when she hears the clicker she looks up for a treat. Also i have read up on clicker training, you use the clicker when she does the required response. Ie for the sit command when her bum touches the floor.

I think thats all right NTTF but if you have any tips or corrections let me know.

Thanks,

Dan
