magman
Different answer to a different gun , put it on paper and see what pattern you get for each !!!
mickmep
the choke doesn't alter the range the shot will go. they do alter the pattern density at range. as above you need to pattern with your gun and cartridges at the ranges you intend to shoot and see what it's giving you. bostonmick
This is far from being a basic question. So many factors come into play I doubt there is an answer to it.

Harnser
A good shot will kill birds clean at 45 yards with Full choke and 6 shot . Lessor ranges for the more open chokes . Harnser

kent
Being serious it depends totally on how they pattern and then the velocity of the shot when it lands (some can out pattern the energy in the shot) Oh and how well you shoot. Choke to 99% of shooters will only improve their clean kill rates at their usual ranges the other 1% shoot so well they shouldn't need care
Guest stevo
I cant really answer the question , as like has been said there are too many things to consider , but from my own experience , I can say ,that in my O/U I use 3/4 and Full and my semi Auto Full . I can get very clean kills out to 50 yrds all day long , I use either 28 grm of 6s or 32 grm of 5s .
ditchman
Different answer to a different gun , put it on paper and see what pattern you get for each !!! that is the only way to be certain...............beretta measurments etc are different to "english game chokes blah blah blah....it is a minefield...and two of the same guns same chokes might pattern slightly different....do as magman suggests.............buy some wallpaper and make a frame and shoot off the different cartridges you are likley to use and compare them with your choke selection....... if you are going to do it...do it fully......it might be quite an eye opener !!
