6.5x55SE
All though i am not a fan of the Semi Auto last weekend i bought my 13 yr old Grandson a 12ga semi auto due to his size and build. Monday evening he safely fired his new gun and a 12ga for the first time and shot his first Canada. Back to this morning i took Conor ( grandson ) and very good mate Geoff to try and get Conor his First Grey-Lag. Dawn broke with Fog but not to dense. Mallard after Mallard offered plenty of chance but Conor and Geoff held fire with out warning a single Grey came and responded perfect to my calling not the best shot in the world but Conor managed to down the Grey with his very first shot job done and a memory to last for ever due to this i told Geoff to shoot Duck and having shot a few said let Conor have a shot his first shot missed. i had hardly loaded his gun when another bunch came this time 2 shots 2 Mallard a few minutes later the same result then a single which also was shot cleanly so Conor had 6 shots for 5 Mallard by now the goose flight had started as i was not shooting i told Conor he could if chances arose take my share now he took me to my word shooting 9 Grey-Lag and a Canada which included 2 doubles there was so many good moments and firsts this morning One being a Skein of Greys which i asked Conor to shoot the back goose which he done cleanly and Geoff trippled them seeing 4 Geese Killed stone dead for 4 shots was a proud moment for me and not to be out done after Conor missed with a single shot i took his gun put one cartridge and killed a double he did laugh and say i new you would do that I got ticked off by Conor as after i took his photo and was back home showing his Nan he quickly relised i missed one of his Geese out. So Conor achieved plenty of first this morning next is Pinks under the Moon i must add i loaded Conors gun and with only 2 cartridges at any one time

He is buzzing at the moment wanting to out this week and bending my ears about the Moon and Shooting Pinks. Fingers crossed he keeps interested. I think grounded right in the first place they inevitably come back to it and it sounds to me he's getting exactly the right grounding. Both my boys did after finding Girls and all the other distractions.

birdsallpl
I also have a Grandson called Connor but he is only seven at the moment. I really hope that when he is 13 that he and I have the same wonderful relationship you have with yours. I admire and envy you, fingers crossed.
