cleaner4hire
Ive found a massive 9m x 9m cammo net in my garage - its obviously not very practical at this size so I'm gonna chop it up into smaller bits. What sort of size netting do people use? You can blatently tell I've never bothered building a hide in the past lol!!!!
fenboy
5m x 2m should be enough for a hide in most situations.
JDog
My main net is 6m x 2m and in most circumstances it has been all that has been required. If you were clever you could cut your net to achieve the following: 1 at 9m x 3m 1 at 6m x 1m 3 at 6m x 2m

TIGHTCHOKE
Sorry to disagree, but you can get 8 nets from a 9m square net, each one would be 5m X 2m. Great for single or double hides. Good luck.

Good luck. You are not disagreeing with my calculations you are simply allowing for a shorter net than the one I mentioned which is the one I use ie 6m x 2m. TIGHTCHOKE
I use 5m X 2m as I can stand up or sit down and carry two nets the same size to allow for guests and top cover when shooting corvids. The simpliciy of having same sized nets makes things easy too. The extra nets are spares and you could even trade a few with mates.
Cranfield
I have a few old MoD camo nets at 2m x 6m, but in recent years I have bought 1.5m x 6m ex MoD nets. I am 5ft-9ins tall and a 1.5m net comes to my chin and is a lot easier to shoot over (with some slack on the ground). When using my 2m nets, I have loads of slack net on the ground, so why pay for what you don't need.

That is if you make a hide with a back ground all ready there...you won't fit 2 people in a square hide/field hide using a net 5x2... Unless the shooters are extra friendly from Wittering.... The foot print is simply too small...... I was given a 5 metre stealth net which is covered over with an old Mod net the same size.... With that and 5 poles it works well for me....take a guest take more net as I all ways put up a partition net which in affect makes two hides in one... TIGHTCHOKE
We are VERY friendly in Wittering, I carry two nets at a time to allow for hides in the middle of fields. My next project is to take the "GHOST" or "STEALTH" net up a level. By using landing net material and cut to 10' x 4.5' it will cover nicely and be light to carry. Uncle Albert
Simply cut it down the middle. this should give you enough to put a "back" on your hide when you set it up in the middle of a field. You always find yourself short of netting when you need it most. Edited November 4, 2014 by Uncle Albert
