30-6
Q1 - does any body or has anybody had any sucess with lures for mullet? If so what type and what's the success rate like? Q2 - same as above, but with plugs for bass?
trapshooter
Ive had no luck with mullet, and only limited success with lures for bass, the most joy Ive had has been with live sandeel and prawns.try looking on mike ladles web site for very useful info on both topics. Ferret Master
I find bread most effective for the mullet. We caught a couple of bass in a bay a while back using very cheap light weight spinners. Sometimes cheaper lures which aren't too shiny work in the shallower water well if the bass are on the feed. Small crab works quite well for big bass. FM
Paul in North Lincs.
same here.................breads' a killer for mullet........I dont think there particularly predatory....toby spoon and rag worms good for bass. very hard mouths are the mullet, and damn hard to hook, even on light tackle. Cranfield
Small mepps spoon tipped with rag will catch thin lipped mullet, its the thick lipped mullet that take bread.
30-6
Can anybody recommend a dealer that sells those "rattling plugs" for a good price? They seem to catch everything on the fishing programmes.
Cranfield
Its best to do a Google search, there are loads of stockists out there. Try to buy a brand name, like Rapala and if you buy cheap, check out the hook attachment (replace with a split ring if necessary) and the hook may need replacing, sometimes with a single hook. vole
I mostly deal with Harris angling. They deal in Mean lures.Cheaper than Rapala and huge range.I get upset when i lose a £8 lure.Usually worth looking in their clearance section.Never lure fished for mullet or bass before but they do catch pike.even had barracuda on one.Did catch grey mullet on raw prawn when on holiday. Ps many of the Mean lures rattle. Just been on Harris Sportsmail website. For £2 the Mean Elver looks kinda bass lure shape and rattles. Lord Geordie
Harris angling AND Askari are both Cheap suppliers of lures. Mean lures are cheaper than Rappala and i have had countless fish fall foul of them :( I happen to think for what they are Rappala are a bit to pricey Don't get me wrong i HAVE rappala lures but i have only used 1 as i am afraid to lose them due to the cost The Mean Lures and others i have are all top notch and produce to goods just as well as Rappala LG

Wise words, take note.
