Dunkield
Not sure if this a local thing or not, but I have been getting quite a few muntjac shot in the last few weeks and can't remember them being in such good condition. I shot this buck on yesterday, last knockings (hence the rubbish mobile picture) decent head and body weight by any standards. Back out today and my mate shot this doe from pretty much the same spot as the buck The pictures don't do them justice, quality of them both in every respect was impressive. They were both shot loitering around pheasant feeders so maybe that is the secret to clean living! I have heard stories of, and finally seen, and absolute monster buck - absolute medal material, in the same area. We may yet meet up under the right conditions..... Dunkield
Yes, loads. Ah beech mast, the reason the woods appear to be carpeted with pigeons too, I haven't make that connection before.
flynny
I have seen muntjac only twice, ( in the wild)whilst trying to shoot the tricky beggars. The ones I saw were the same mate. I saw one last week with Colin lad and I was surprised( in my limited experience) how healthy and large they were, even though they are a small deer.the weather has been very mild ( as jdog had said) it appears they have had a longer food supply so too speak, there were also plenty of pigeons in the woods where the munties were, Atb Flynny Edited December 5, 2014 by flynny
Zapp
They are in fine fettle. The ones round my way are looking very healthy on the glut of fruit in the old orchards that are dotted about.
Dougy
Nice and chunky Stu, certainly not malnourished. I'll be out for 1or 2 next weekend weather permitting.
