Which used Semi-Auto to buy? Escort or Impala? Advice please!

Hi all,

Been after a cheap semi for a little while, for pigeon, duck etc.

As it happens, 2 semi autos have come up for sale near me, both at £200.

One is a Hatsan Escort and the other is an Impala.

They pretty much look identical if I'm honest, both great condition and both in black synthetic.

Both 28" and steel proof.

I've read a fair bit of good things here and there about the Escort and would be comfortable buying that, but the guy selling the Impala claims they are a better gun than the Escort, better made and are a reputable Turkish manufacturer.

They both come with a set of chokes, 5 for the Escort and 3 for the Impala.

Any advice at all on which one to go for? Anyone even heard of Impala? I've tried to google them but hardly anything came up.

Thanks!

I cannot say anything about the Impala as not seen one , If you have read a lot of good things about the escort you must have also read a lot of bad things .

Some love them and plenty hate them , pay your money and take your chance , it will either good , ok or terrible but that is what you face with a £200 budget , My advice when buying a auto is to buy the very best you can afford.

I know, you get what you pay for.

Ideally I would buy something like a Browning Maxus but I already have a few nice O/U so was just wanting a cheap and cheerful Auto to see how I got on with it, plus at £200 it wouldn't be the end of the world if it got scratched or scuffed during vermin work and out in the pickup truck.

I just had never heard of Impala and if it's the better gun then my £200 would be going that way!

The Armsan for £370.00 brand new with three year warranty is a billy bargain. Very good gun for the money.

If you really must choose between the two you mention I'd go Hatsan for spares and most dealers know the guns.

Do you have a link to that Armsan deal?

Armsan 612 £365 from Gilsan sports Richmond. I have the 612s £550 and going down to Richmond in a couple of weeks for the 612 for my son.Budget gun but quality is leagues ahead of the Hastan of which I have had 2,the later one the new version went back 3 times & on the 3rd occasion started firing cartridges when the receiver slammed back. Have a try of the Armsam its a different kettle of fish,no wobbly carrage like the Hatsan.
