I know a keeper that when ever anyone brings a closed gun onto the gun bus or into any building he obviously challenges them and tells them to break the gun. Every time comes the reply "it's ok....it's not loaded". To that he immediately replies...." Well stick the barrels in your mouth and pull the trigger. If it goes click, I'll pay you £100. If it goes bang you can owe me". Never had anyone take him up on his offer.

I had a similar instance of a unintended discharge on my old O/U. Upon stripping the gun, I found the sear spring had cracked! This then meant the sear was not being held against the hammer with the correct load! When the gun was closed, the jarring was enough to cause the sear to fall away. Lucky for me, a chap on here works in a gun repair workshop! I managed to get a few different springs to try. It was a bit of a concern when it happened, but following protocol meant there was no incident.

The only injuries I have sustained whilst shooting, Gashed me head walking into a branch, tore a hole in my leg on barbed wire, and tore the side of my thumb open on the top lever of my hide gun, when it recoiled! That smarted!
