belly47
i have eaten tons of pigeons in my time, usually breasted and fried in pan or whole roasted but never seem to see many recipes for cooking them in a slow cooker. I imagine this is because its not the best way to do it. Have any of you tried it though and if so what is your recipe. cheers Belly
JDog
I do cook whole pigeons but only young ones. This is not the right time of the year.

Moley101
I used breast meat in the slow cooker to make a cracking dansak (used the new hairy dieters recipe and replaced the lamb with pigeon), was absolutely fantastic.

Sounds great, do you have the recipe?
oliver90owner
The ex, gone getting on for twenty years ago, diced the breasts, seared in a big fry pan and then pressure cooked. Not sure for how long. Made into pies with the usual additions and nobody could tell it wasn't a tender beef dish (she made steak and onion as she did not like steak and pygmy)
FalconFN
Pygmy is an acquired taste I s'pose... I have slow cooked breast meat but the texture wasn't great, it was grainy and a little disappointing. Change beef for pigeon and make a burguignon instead, its great. Moley101
Sounds great, do you have the recipe? It's from the new Hairy Bikers diet book. I imagine it would work well with any curry recipe. I find slow cooking curries allow the meat to tenderise and the flavours to develop nicely, just finish off with the fresh coriander garnish and yogurt before serving.
