sishyplops
Hi all I'm having probs with my victory mobil chokes coming loose after about 6 shots in my beretta 303, they came loose in my last 303 as well, I have had multi chokes for 20 odd yrs inc teague, briley and all manor of factory chokes but have never had any that come loose in about 6 shots, I tighten them at the end of each stand with a key and they just come loose again, I normally use Vaseline and generally does the job What is the best thing to use? Thanks guys and gals Edited January 10, 2015 by sishyplops

steve_b_wales
Most chokes work loose after a number of shots have been fired. I use copperslip grease on mine, which helps protect the chokes from getting stuck, and I find that it 'holds' them in a bit tighter. vmaxphil
Try one turn of ptfe tape to the threads remember single barrels got hotter than twin barrels due to two quick shots through them
sishyplops
Thanks guys I'll give it a go, I'll try the copper slip first then Ptfe if that doesn't work Thanks again
MAB1954
Clean choke and barrel threads, use a little of your choosen lube and tighen choke into barrel. If it comes loose after 6 shots there is something amiss get the gun/threads inspected by gunsmith or engineer. Have a look on another recent choke discussion on here and see photo of what can happen.
Westward
Vaseline... Why? I use a product recommended for Krieghoffs branded 'Schmierfix' which Alan Rhone supplies in handy tubes. In reality it's 'Liqui Moly' gel which you can get in motor shops etc. but it works for me.
psycho
Use proper choke lube the clue is on the tube it will keep the choks in place even when hot vaseleen becomes liquad by the sun and also liguad with pressure
