Townie1
For a few years I've had a hairline crack in the grip of my Beretta just in front of the safety, which disappeared into the checkering. It's widened afraction and I can now feel it with a fingernail. Is it something that can be nipped in the bud, or will it be a new stock? If so, any idea how much it's likely to set me back? Cheers all.
bostonmick
I would say that it could be repaired. However depending on what model it is it may be cheaper and easier to get a second hand stock put on it.I recently sold a stock for a dt10 adjustable for £350 so lesser models I would say could be found cheaper. Fatcatsplat
Take it to a gunsmith and see if they can glue it - I snapped my Browning stock in half and had it glued back almost (99.9%) perfectly for 50 quid - A new stock will cost you a small fortune as it will need to be fitted to your gun and probably then adjusted to your gun's dimensions. Townie1
That was what I was hoping someone would say! It's an ancient 686 if that makes any difference. It's a pretty good fit so I'd like to avoid a new stock if possible.
johnphilip
You could start by drilling a small hole either ends of the split, then fill them, that would stop it splitting anymore

triumphant59
Thanks all. I'll find my drill tonight... Wouldn't drill the stock that will ruin it! My old 687 cracked just the same and I got a 2nd hand stock fitted for £75 then sold the cracked one on eBay for £82! Other option is to have it glued which is OK if you want to keep it but try selling a gun with a glued stock, not many takers!
Paddy Galore!
erm yeah, don't drill the stock, they can be glued easily enough, take the action out, glue and clamp it, don't use pva though, super glue works better.
