I would look at scrapping universal benefits. It would need some serious looking at first but as much as i dislike Katie Hopkins, her comment to Jordan was relevant along with the poster that made the point about child benefit.

We means test most benefits, why not child heating allowance etc. I know some child benefit is already means tested but what a debacle that is?

Joint income of £49 k each= £98, you get some of it paid. Single income of £60k = £60k and you don't..crazy

i dont understand this post can you elaborate on it a little :/

true but now days their rent is about 70% of their wages before you even go near bills in days gone by rents were not as high and they had council houses back then

If you read the 3rd/4th lines of my original post I think you'll see that I mentioned that.

Well it will only get worse if you elect Labour - they created the mess the Tories are having to resolve. When Tories came to power there were families grossing near on £100k pa (Mick Philpot who killed 5 kids was on £95k), living in houses worth a million we were subsidising which of course we have all forgotten about. Even now in sleepy villages like the one I live in there ae social security cases living in 5/6 bedroom farmhouses (rent £1500pm) we are heavily subsidising whilst the adults earn good money but cash (!!). I know 'call me Dave' is very wealthy but so are many of those so-called socialists. Blair is allegedly worth £50m+. The Tories don't try to hide it - Labourites do. I suspect too our beautiful sport will go into free fall under Labour so think very carefully before you vote.

Just a question but why is there such a thing as child benefit? (genuine question):

Right Shaun, There is a very Simple answer to this question, and valid of course:

Because I am of the senior Group, it was probably given to me by history, and parents of the answer to your question:

After the Last war there were a lot of Gaps in the population, So to encourage people having children, (Who at the time could NOT afford it),

The state introduced Child benefit, it wasn`t called that back then, it was family allowance. (Same Thing).

So I hope I have answered your question on this point, and maybe to others who do not know.

it was introduced in quite a few countries after the last war, as they all had the same problem...

It may Be Called ::: Gun Fodder in some camps... Depends how you view it.

Yes, You are quite Correct:

That was later of course,..

So now we have people having loads of kids to keep Saturday night a right booze up..

My Misses used to work a lot for that area of the population, kids etc,, They had children taken off them, but just went on having more, (Just For The money).

Things have got out of control in all area`s of the NHS, They used to when I was little,,, Only go to the hospital if you were in danger of dying or certainly very poorly.

or if the doctor could not handle it, saying which the doctor earlier than me I might add. used to take your tonsils out on the kitchen table.

it would probably be frowned on today, But it did let you Breath again..

Accident and Emergency it is called, I wonder how it should be Pronounced now..
