Blackbart
Take the cowling off around the ignition barrel and check the connections for a duff one
landy george
Sounds like a td5. Oil in loom maybe.
Essex Keeper
It's the farm landrover I believe its a td5 If you turn the key so it turns over the engine then turn all the way off and then back really quick after doing this for 10 mins it will start It's like the throttle doesn't wont to work The first turn of the key it's fires then it's like it doesn't get fuel even holding the throttle down
landy george
I'd say oil in the ecu loom, that's the first place I'd start. Common fault on td5's
pigeon controller
I'd say oil in the ecu loom, that's the first place I'd start. Common fault on td5's I had the same on my Disco TD5 intermittent starting , changed the loom ,sorted.

landy george
Check both ends, comes out of the injectors runs down the loom. Google it should be loads on it.

goldypurple
Air in the system, what colour smoke from exhaust when it does start?
Paul223
Listen to the sound of the fuel pump priming, can you hear sqechy sqwelchy noises? If it's a van these noises will be obvious, may be not so much with a pickup Unplug the red Ecu connector under the drivers seat, is it contaminated with oil Edited February 7, 2015 by Paul223
spanj
errrrrrrrrrr, is there fuel in the tank.....first place I'd start. As for the oil in the loom was it running rough before this issue arose ?
Paul223
I'm thinking it'll be injector seat seals
