Biggsy
Hi all,my first post. Had my maxus composite for 7 months now, just recently on the second shot the trigger is solid even though the hammer is cocked inside,I'm unable to get second shot off!! Last week out of 25 pairs of clays this happened 7 times!! Took it back to shop 2days ago,and the shop is sending it back to browning for a check. I've noticed on some other sites there has been posts about the trigger group being faulty on some of these guns, and browning has replaced them.......any thoughts? I've noticed on some other sites there has been posts about the trigger group being faulty on some of these guns, and browning has replaced them.......any thoughts? There was a modification made to the trigger group after the first year or two. The easy way to tell if the gun if fitted with the early or late trigger group is by looking at the shell lifer, the early trigger group shell lifter had more pronounced prongs, the later is more "blunt". If you have a dig around on the browning sub forum on shotgunworld there is a lot of information on there.
Biggsy
I'm sure the shell lifter on mine has the pointed one,I have noticed that on other forums..........wait to see what browning does, when gun comes back I'll post, cheers. Just seen pics of the two she'll lifters on browning site,it does show the "new" type having a more rounder lifter than mine.......... Fishing Richie
Biggsy, I have the same model as yours bought at about the same time. I have used it exclusively for clay breaking and put a over 1k cartridges through it. I was told at purchase that I would have to completely strip it down only once a year to clean out the trigger group and bolt etc. but on my last 2 outings (75 shots/ outing) I have had 4 jamb ups. When I got home on Sunday I completely stripped the gun down and cleaned off all the residue. I have been out since and 80 cartridges through it without issue so I hope I have cured the problem. Other than this issue I really love the gun. Rich
Biggsy
Richie,I also love the gun,had a miroku 7000 sporter for yrs but traded in for the maxus, The maxus fits me like a glove after useing shims etc, never had a jam up with it,just the prob with the trigger jamming on second shot...........its with browning now!! Fishing Richie
One of the reasons I bought mine was it was easy to adjust with the shims and an after market black rubber comb raiser. Its fits really well, has no recoil and I shoot it better than my O/U B525. Hope you get it sorted soon and if they tell you what was wrong, please post up the reasons for the problem. Jaymo
Firstly and for two reasons Get someone to film you using a mobile or something as this will serve as evidence to support your claim for a refund and secondly it might highlight your index finger not releasing the trigger fully between shots afterall its always ok on the first pull after cocking which is essentially the same cycling action? ( seen it before with a friend) Hope this poss helps?
Biggsy
See what you mean ,jaymo, when second shot is solid on trigger,I can look through and se that the hammer is cocked and ready To go?
Elma thudd
silly questions but.... i take it the gun is cycling the second shot properly with the bolt/breach fully closed and locked, also how are you loading it? I have a composite sporting maxus and it has never once played up normally clean it every 500 or so shells also remove the trigger group and brush every couple of thousand only time it has played up is with 21g and that is a cycling issue, but only stick 28g for clays or 30 -32g for pigeons through it normally

Jaymo
How about letting someone else try a 'round' of Clays with it, see if they experience the same?
Biggsy
Thanks for your tips lads,I load the gun through the speed load, never failed to load second cartridge,as for not releasing the trigger after first shot something I haven't purposely tried (mmmm) other half reckons another try is in order,ha ha. rangey
By the way lads,I did put a couple of boxes high pigeon loads through initially,am now useing eley 28gram superbs definitely try taking your time and make sure you are releasing the trigger for the second shot, this sometimes happens with my maxus if I get a bit keen on the pigeons and don't release the trigger before firing the second or third shot

Elma thudd
yeah shame about the maxus they are nice and can fit really well with the spacers, good luck with the O/U should swing a bit smoother on clays with the extra barrel and at least its firing both of them!
