Dunkield
Some friends of a friend would like to come to England to shoot pigeons. They have clearly seen videos of big bags and successful days etc and really fancy giving it a go as they have nothing like this at home. So my question is (taking all of what we know about wild animals, weather conditions etc into account) what would be the best time of year to come over to be in with at least a good chance of having a good day, and over what sort of crop? Penelope
Harvest time over rape stubble, would, I think be the best option.
JDog
Third week in July given an average summer. Rape and early barley will have been harvested and there will be standing wheat with holes in it somewhere.

JDog
whole crop at harvest time Some PW members may not understand that. Perhaps you should explain more.

JohnDeere6630
Whole crop is wheat or barley harvested early for animal feed, normaly at the end of july. where i am (lincolnshire) its normaly the only stubble around and draws in a lot of birds
fenboy
whole crop at harvest time Depends where you are there is nothing like whole crops in these parts. If I had to bet my life on shooting a bag of pigeons it would be on ealry cut rape stubble
Dunkield
Thanks for the replies gents, much appreciated. So the next question is, who would be a recommendation as good reliable guide to take two guns out for a day or two? They would need the whole package, as in they would have only guns, cartridges and packed lunch.
dougall
I would suggest Will Beasley and his dad....not cheap but would get full service and they have serious land options @ Oxfordshire,..also Will speaks french has many french guns over regularly.
