dwarren876
Hi Hunters, Before I continue I would like to say I am a complete Novice at this and in no way an EXPERT. My Savage Axis .223 is very bullet fussy and only really like Hornady VMAX out of the box. A friend of mine offered to reload for me and the accuracy increased 10 fold. Unfortunately I am very impatient and didn't enjoy having to wait for someone else to re-load for me especially when you are down to your last 5 rounds so I decided to look into doing it myself. The local gun shop (Sporting Supplied - Bloxwich) were selling the "Lee 50th Anniversary Reloading Kit" which was £119 so I decided to give it a go. Thanks to Youtube I managed to load my 1st batch of ammo but felt there isn't many amateur videos online for people like me who really just want to get started so I have uploaded some of my videos for you to view. http://youtu.be/hlk7mq48xno - Seating the Bullet http://youtu.be/AKobQ4es4gU - Powder Throw/Scale http://youtu.be/ojnmo99X2FE - Powder Throw http://youtu.be/6QzuXE2twjI - Scale http://youtu.be/WgEFTelUV1M - De-priming http://youtu.be/cVOqa2aNT94 - Primer tool http://youtu.be/a1r0IVoLEUw - Priming MORE VIDEOS TO FOLLOW This kit is super easy to use! Mutiny
I didn't watch them all, I did watch the first 2 and I quite enjoyed them. Not sure why, or if it's just me but I can happily spend hours watching reloading footage on YouTube

dwarren876
That's a fair comment mile. Scales zerod yes, brass done and trickled as best I could. I have just ordered a lyman trickled off eBay so should be here soon. Maybe novice videos are not a good thing. But end result is I get this feedback so I am gratedul

zx10mike
if its shooting that well i have no right to preach mate but using mixed brass normally is not great for tight groups you just one of those stuffy **** who is getting stunning accuracy easy lol. dwarren876
Thank you mike. I will remove the videos for now until I can offer better mentoring. I know I was very lucky. It's weird as my savage is very very fussy. I will upload a pic as it's the best group I have ever had. Cheers dave
1066
Well I'd give you a gold star for effort at least you're enthusiastic and have made a start. My tip for you would be "dump the scales". I think Lee make some excellent products but the scale isn't one of them. Your video of zeroing the scale is a perfect example of why I'm not a lover of this scale. Now I know a lot of reloaders use them and I know they can be very accurate but they are fiddly to adjust and damping seems to be variable. The damping on your scale appears to be particularly poor even compared with the usual Lee scale, it should come to rest in just a couple of swings. Here's a short video I made about the new Hornady beam scale - It's another low budget scale (but not so low as the Lee) Just see how it compares to the Lee for ease of operation - I have a few "scale" video on my youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buRAm2aL6ik And here's one at the other end of the spectrum. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eGThfOYsrA
snow white
If you can afford it buy a horndy lock and load electric scales.or similar no mucking about calibrate at the start put powder in set to what weight and a way you go I do pull one load and double check every now and then.all the best with your reloading. Bewsher500
I know I was very lucky. luck has nothing to do with it fella people will tell you that without a laboratory and £5k of equipment you can't possibly hope to hit a barn door a huge proportion of reloaders don't weigh powder they throw scoops equally they wouldn't know where the lands are in their rifle, let alone how many thousands of an inch the OAL needs to be to be "on them" if it shoots well and you are safe don't start trying to re-invent the wheel well done and welcome to the hobby you will be spending all your spare cash on!
